Volunteer Application
We are glad to hear that you are interested in volunteering with one or more of the programs provided to Shiawassee County residents. As you may know, the Council for Child Abuse Prevention collaborates with many schools, faith-based groups, human service agencies and law enforcement professionals to ensure that children are safe from abuse and neglect. We are also responsible for direct services to children and families through the Child Advocacy Center, Prevention Education and Baby Pantry Programs.
To be able to match you better with our volunteer opportunities, we set up a convient link to download the application. In addition, to ensure the safety of the children and teens that we serve, we ask that each volunteer agree to authorize the Council to conduct a Criminal Background Check and Michigan Central Registry Clearance.
Please complete the 3-page Volunteer Application and Background Check Authorization and return them to either the Child Advocacy Center at 1216 W. Main Street, Owosso, MI 48867 or to the Council Representative that you are working/volunteering with. (i.e. Baby Pantry Coordinator, Council Board Member, CAC Director, Prevention Coordinator). Also complete the Department of Human Services “Request for Central Registry Clearance” and mail it directly to DHS, 1975 W. Main Street, Owosso, MI 48867. DHS will send a response to you which you can, in turn, mail to the Council.
Please feel free to contact us at (989) 723-5877 if you have any additional questions about the volunteer application process or any of our programs. Thank you, again, for your interest in volunteering and your support of children and teens in our county!
